    What are the advantages and disadvantages to setting up a family trust on real estate?

    The biggest advantage of moving property into family trust is that it becomes ringfenced from getting attached during prosecutions or litigations and not being available for sale or liquidation by a beneficiary as he would only be able to avail himself of the income from the property and not from the sale. The trustees who run the trust will be the one who will be taking the decisions and usually they are of a high calibre who understand fiduciary responsibilities and have a long-term view in mind.
